Feeling a Bit Stressed? It’s Time to Give Yourself a Break.

January 30, 2009

We know stress is bad. We know first-hand the challenges of being over-stressed. In fact, “reducing stress” is consistently a top-10 New Year’s resolution for adults. My personal 2009 resolution is to spend less time online and get more sunshine. A little ironic that I’m posting this on a blog about online games, isn’t it? But I digress.

Back on our topic of stress, we wanted to let you know about a fun and easy way to decrease stress during your day. In a recent study by the Psychophysiological Lab and Biofeedback Clinic of East Carolina University, they found that people reduced their stress levels, increased concentration, relieved fatigue and even elevated their moods with just five minutes of online game play.

Five minutes! I can’t even floss my teeth in five minutes, but again I digress.

We think that’s great news for the Platrium community. Matching games like Tiki Trouble, Mayan Mask, and Flower Frenzy head the list of quick stress relievers. Want a little more challenge to boost your concentration? Try Sudoku or Crosswords Puzzles – you’ll find new ones posted every day at Platrium Games

Like pillows not staying fluffy, stress is just another fact of life. But now you know how to do something about it. So give yourself a break.  At work or at home, your favorite stress relieving games are only a click away on the Playbar and Platrium Games website.

Fun Doesn’t Have to be Shared Publicly

January 27, 2009

The other day as I was cleaning and I found a piece of chalk.  I couldn’t recall a time where I physically purchased the chalk or a time where someone bestowed this gift of chalk upon me. Perhaps it was left by the Chalk Fairy? Regardless, there it was in plain sight in my home.  I figured this was a sign and I was supposed to do something magical with this gift.  I immediately went outside, drew a hopscotch court, found a rock, and started playing. This was not the sort of halfhearted playing found in most adults mind you. No, I was playing hopscotch with exhilaration and joy, giggling like I was in second grade again.  I hopped from square to square with the wind in my face, the love of fun in my heart, and a rekindling of my childhood in my soul.  When my husband pulled into the driveway I couldn’t wait to give him the gift of chalk to see what he would do with it.  When I handed it to him he looked really confused, knelt down to the ground, and wrote “You’re stupid.”

Platrium Games. They allow you to release your inner kid without being judged.  Give it a try, chalk-free.

Shhhhh, it’s OK to have fun,

Who Wants Free Stuff?

January 23, 2009

I’d like to give a shout out to our user Susan H. of Defuniak Springs, Florida.

Susan has really taken advantage of the different ways to win at Platrium Rewards, redeeming her Jacks to win multiple instant win prizes and even an auction here and there. Talk about a go-getter. Although we have yet to receive official confirmation, Susan’s stellar achievements lead us to believe she was probably voted “Most Likely To Succeed” in high school too.

“I just wanted to let you know how much I love Platrium! I’ve never found another website quite like Platrium,” explained Susan. “The games are great and the auctions are so much fun! I love that the Sweepstakes are actually winnable…  I’ve told all my friends and family about Platrium and I look forward to playing every day!” Again, these are Susan’s own words. She’s not a paid spokesperson giving a prepared speech. She doesn’t play the part of a Platrium user on a new TV sitcom. She is a real, satisfied Platrium Rewards member.

So thanks for all the kind words Susan. We’re glad we could help make your day a little brighter. Sending people something to smile about makes us feel good and we’re happy we could help you give yourself a break.

Now why not take a little break and reward yourself with Platrium Sweepstakes? You can still enter to win the January grand prize of $300 for a personal makeover.  There’s also plenty of Amazon.com $25 gift certificates and Platrium tote bags available in our instant win game. Or, bid some of your Jacks on a Platrium Auction – if you win we even pay for the shipping (Sorry, Platrium Sweepstakes and Auctions are U.S. only).

Free stuff just for playing games. Why would you even think about taking a break anywhere else?

“Super-Resize Me!”

January 20, 2009

Bigger is better, right? At least that’s what Platrium has heard from a few dedicated gamers. Your fellow Platrium users asked us if the games could be larger – especially Jetset Mahjong with its many tiles. Well, as the old saying goes, “Ask and ye shall receive.”

Next time you play look below the game and you’ll see the “Resize” section with these three size options:

Resize control found on Platrium Games

Look for this Resize Control found on Platrium Games

regular, medium, and large. If you’re too young to know what these old-fashioned size descriptors mean just replace with the following three options instead: tall, grande, and venti.

Resize let’s you fit the game to your screen which makes playing a whole lot more fun. Even better, resizing a game gives you the same high quality graphics and speedy game play you get in the regular size – just more of it!

We’re really happy to provide this feature to you but we’re even happier you cared enough to let us know you wanted it. We love hearing from you so if there’s anything else you want – we’re all ears.

Now sit up, stop squinting, back your face away from the computer screen, and enjoy.

Platrium Blog. A Place to Laugh, Learn and Relax.

January 15, 2009

With this being the first official entry on our brand new Platrium Blog, we’d like to tell you a little about why it was started and what’s in store. And most importantly, we want to welcome each of you valued Platrium users. After all, without you there wouldn’t be anyone to actually read this blog.

The Platrium Blog will serve as a communication line between Platrium and all of the fine Platrium users. Yes, even you. This blog will be an informal channel focused on delivering useful information along with some amusement and a few smiles.

We are launching the Platrium Blog with three key objectives- to connect, inform and have fun. Sounds pretty good, don’t you think?

Connect
Staying connected with each of our users is important. This blog encourages two-way communications by asking users to post comments and feedback for every entry. We want each of you to have a voice and need your help to continually optimize Platrium. We are listening, so go ahead and speak up.

Inform
This blog will inform users about new product and service announcements before they become available. It’s like having a friend “on the inside”. It will also provide advanced alerts on Playbar and Web site changes. To help users maximize their Platrium experience, it will include various tips designed to increase your efficiency and entertainment as well.

Have Fun
Building on Platrium’s brand line of Give yourself a break, the Platrium Blog will be just as fun, personal and quirky as it is informative. This blog should feel like an extension of our company culture in that we take our business seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. That should be obvious as you look at this blog.

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy creating it. We also hope the new blog smell is not too strong. Try letting it air out overnight.
